Extra Cheesy Homemade Pizza

Ingredients
  

For the dough

  • 2.5 cups 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons) Ensure the yeast is fresh for best results
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon sugar To activate the yeast
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup 1 cup warm water (about 110°F) Water temperature is important for yeast activation
  • 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the toppings

  • 1.5 cups 1 ½ cups marinara sauce (or pizza sauce)
  • 4 cups 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Freshly grated preferred for better melting
  • 1 cup 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, etc.) Customize according to preference

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, mix warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the surface and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
  • Stir until the dough starts to come together, then transfer it to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Cooking

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up as well.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it back to a floured surface. Roll it out to fit your pizza pan or stone.
  • Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
  • Sprinkle the mozzarella over the sauce, followed by the cheddar and Parmesan.
  • If adding optional toppings, do so at this stage.
  • Sprinkle dried oregano and garlic powder over everything.
  • Bake the pizza for about 12-15 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before cutting into slices.

Notes

For a crispy crust, consider pre-baking the crust for a few minutes before adding the sauce and cheese. Experiment with herbs and spices for more flavor.
