  • 10 oz unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 3 oz powdered sugar (+ 1 heaping tablespoon for topping)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk full cream milk works best
  • 3 tablespoons baking powder optional
  • 11 oz all-purpose flour
  • 4 oz cornstarch (about 1/2 cup + 1/3 cup)
  • holiday-themed sprinkles for decoration

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the room temperature butter with the powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the egg yolk, salt, and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  • Incorporate the whole milk and optional baking powder into the mixture, mixing well.
  • Gradually add in the all-purpose flour and cornstarch, mixing until you achieve a soft and workable dough.
  • Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C).
  • Using a cookie press, shape the dough onto an ungreased baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch between each cookie.
  • Sprinkle holiday-themed sprinkles on top of each cookie.
  • Bake for about 15 minutes, until cookies are lightly golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack and then store them in an airtight container.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them fresh. They can also be frozen for long-term storage.
