Meatloaf Base

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef Choose good-quality beef for best flavor.
  • 1 cup French onion soup Adds flavor and moisture.
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs Regular or gluten-free as preferred.
  • 0.5 cup chopped onions Fresh onions enhance the flavor.
  • 0.25 cup milk Adds moisture to the mixture.
  • 1 count egg Acts as a binder.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Enhances flavor.

Optional Topping

  • 1 cup shredded cheese Optional; can use Swiss or cheddar.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Measure out all your ingredients to make mixing smoother.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef with French onion soup and breadcrumbs.
  • Mix these ingredients together using your hands until well combined.
  • Add chopped onions, milk, egg, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce to the bowl.
  • Mix thoroughly to ensure a well-combined mixture.
  • Shape the mixture into a rustic loaf shape.
  • Place the shaped meatloaf in the center of your slow cooker.

Cooking

  • Cover and set the slow cooker to cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  • If using shredded cheese, sprinkle on top of the meatloaf during the last 15 minutes of cooking.

Finishing Up

  • Once cooked, let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
