Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar Add gradually while creaming with butter.
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt Enhances flavor.
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Spoon into the measuring cup and level off.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds flavor.
  • 1 yolk egg yolk Use only the yolk for richness.
  • Coarse to sprinkle sea salt for topping To enhance the salty flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the sea salt, vanilla extract, and egg yolk into the bowl, mixing until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Chill the dough in the fridge for about 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of coarse sea salt on top of each cookie before baking.
  • Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden, the centers may look soft.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
