Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder black cocoa or Hershey’s Special Dark for intense flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract or chocolate extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon espresso powder optional for extra flavor
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • as needed sprinkles for decoration
  • as needed edible eyes for added fun

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare your donut pan by greasing it or spraying with non-stick spray.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk the egg and sugar until frothy, then add milk, Greek yogurt, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Combine the wet mixture with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fill the donut cavities about three-quarters full with batter.
  • Bake for 9-10 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter until smooth to create the glaze.
  • Dip the cooled donuts in the glaze and immediately top with sprinkles and edible eyes.
