Ingredients
  

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Filling

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (your choice)
  • 1 cup assorted vegetables (like spinach, bell peppers, or onions)
  • 1/2 cup cooked protein (such as chicken or turkey, optional) optional
  • Italian herbs (like oregano and basil)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Greasing

  • Cooking spray or extra oil

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, combine the milk and olive oil. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until it forms a dough.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead it gently for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Roll out the dough into a rectangle shape, about 1/4-inch thick.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Add your chosen vegetables and protein on top of the cheese, spreading them out evenly.
  • Season with Italian herbs, salt, and pepper.
  • Starting from one end, carefully roll the dough up, making sure to keep the filling tucked in.
  • Place the rolled dough seam-side down on a greased baking sheet.

Baking

  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
