Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Saucepot
  • Tongs

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 8 ounces dried pasta spaghetti, linguine, or short pasta
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
  • 3 cloves garlic thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

  • Bring a medium saucepot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente, about 8–10 minutes. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain.
  • In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat. Gradually add reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.
  • Stir in the remaining butter until melted. Remove from heat and mix in Parmesan and parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve warm, garnished with extra cheese and parsley if desired.

Notes

You can add sautéed mushrooms, grilled vegetables, or shrimp to this dish for variation. Always reserve some pasta water—it makes the sauce silky!
