Ingredients
  

Pasta and Sauce Base

  • 8 ounces uncooked pasta (linguine)
  • 1 tablespoon butter Use unsalted for more control over seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon flour Used to create a roux.
  • 2-3 cloves garlic (minced) Adjust according to taste.
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth Substitute with vegetable broth for a vegetarian option.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Can replace with half-and-half for a lighter version.
  • 1/3 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese Freshly grated preferred for better melting.
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Preparation

  • Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water. Once boiling, add the linguine and cook until al dente according to package instructions.

Sauce Preparation

  • In a skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat until it coats the bottom.
  • Add the flour to the melted butter and stir continuously for about two minutes until lightly golden.
  • Introduce the minced garlic and cook for about a minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and allow to simmer for a minute.
  • Add the heavy cream, stirring well, and let it simmer for a few minutes until thickened.
  • Mix in the freshly grated parmesan cheese until melted, and season with salt and pepper.

Final Assembly

  • Drain the cooked pasta and add it to the skillet with the sauce, tossing until fully coated. If sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley and additional parmesan if desired.

Notes

For additional flavors, consider adding sautéed vegetables or a protein like grilled chicken or shrimp. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days.
