  • 30 ounces frozen hash browns, thawed
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese for topping (optional)

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, cream of chicken soup, chopped onion, melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or a little extra butter to prevent sticking.
  • Spread the hash brown mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  • If desired, sprinkle an additional cup of shredded cheese on top for extra cheesiness.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes until the casserole is hot and bubbly, and the top has a golden brown color.
  • Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving.
