Ingredients
  

For the Chicken Marinade

  • 1 lb chicken breast Sliced into strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For Assembling

  • 4 pieces pita breads
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce
  • 1 cup chopped lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onion

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.
  • Slice the chicken breasts into strips and coat them with the marinade. Ensure they are fully covered.
  • Let the chicken marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat a grill or skillet to medium-high temperature.
  • Add the marinated chicken strips and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked through and with nice grill marks.
  • While the chicken is cooking, warm the pita bread on the grill for about a minute on each side.

Assembly

  • Take one warmed pita and place a serving of grilled chicken in the center.
  • Top the chicken with a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce and fresh ingredients like chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, and sliced red onion.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your Greek Chicken Gyros!

Notes
