Waffle Batter Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt Can use non-dairy Greek yogurt.
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup Adjust according to sweetness preference.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy) Use any preferred type of milk.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until combined.
  • In another bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, egg, melted butter or coconut oil, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and milk. Stir until smooth.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Gently fold the mixture until just combined; do not overmix. The batter should be slightly lumpy.

Cooking

  • Lightly grease the waffle maker with non-stick spray or a small amount of oil if needed.
  • Pour the appropriate amount of batter into the preheated waffle maker, following the manufacturer’s guidelines. Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crispy, typically about 4-5 minutes.
  • Carefully remove the waffles and serve immediately, or place them on a cooling rack to keep them crispy if making multiple batches.
