Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 1/8 - 1/4 tsp almond extract
  • 3 Tbsp milk
  • Halloween sprinkles for decoration

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 12x17 inch rimmed cookie sheet.
  • Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together salt, baking soda, and flour. Gradually add to the wet mixture until combined.
  • Press the dough evenly into the prepared cookie sheet and bake for about 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Let the cookie bars cool completely in the pan.
  • For the frosting, beat the softened butter until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar, milk, almond extract, and orange food coloring until creamy.
  • Spread the frosting over the cooled cookie bars and sprinkle with Halloween decorations.
  • Cut into approximately 36-40 pieces and serve!
