Ingredients
  

For the Chicken

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces Use lean chicken for a healthier option.

For the Orange Sauce

  • 1/2 cup orange juice Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Use gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup Adjust sweetness to preference.
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar For added tanginess.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced Use fresh for optimal flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced Fresh minced ginger preferred.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Used to thicken the sauce.

Garnishes

  • to taste salt and pepper For seasoning.
  • to taste green onions, for garnish Chopped for topping.
  • to taste sesame seeds, for garnish Adds texture and flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, whisk together the orange juice, soy sauce, honey or maple syrup, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and minced ginger to make the orange sauce.
  • In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the bite-sized chicken pieces. Cook for about 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Pour the prepared orange sauce over the chicken and lower the heat. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Once the sauce reaches desired thickness, remove the skillet from heat.

Serving

  • Garnish the Healthy Orange Chicken with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
  • Serve it over rice or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
