  • 300 g rice cakes (tteok) Soak in warm water before use.
  • 2 tablespoons honey Use high-quality honey for best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Melt completely in the skillet.
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean red chili paste) Adjust according to spice tolerance.
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce Adds depth to the flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds For garnish.
  • 2 pieces green onions Sliced, for garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Soak the rice cakes in warm water for 20 to 30 minutes until softened.
  • Drain the rice cakes and set them aside.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat until bubbling.
  • Add honey, gochujang, and soy sauce to the melted butter and stir to create a smooth sauce.
  • Add the soaked rice cakes to the skillet and toss to coat them in the sauce.
  • Cook for about 5 to 7 minutes until the rice cakes are heated through and begin to glaze over.
  • Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish.

Serving

  • Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

Enjoy it fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. Reheat on medium heat with a splash of water.
