Ingredients
  

For the sauce

  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves, packed Look for bright green, vibrant leaves.
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt Can substitute with dairy-free alternatives.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice For freshness.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin Toasted cumin seeds can enhance flavor.
  • 1 small green chili or jalapeño, chopped Optional for spice.
  • to taste Salt To enhance flavor.
  • as needed Water For consistency adjustment.

Preparation

  • Rinse the fresh mint leaves under cold water to remove any dirt or grit. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • In a blender or food processor, combine the mint leaves, yogurt, lemon juice, sugar, ground cumin, and chopped chili if using.
  • Add a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth, adding water as necessary to achieve desired consistency.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt or sugar as needed.
  • Transfer the sauce to a serving bowl or container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days. For longer storage, freeze in ice cube trays.
