Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups almond flour Use finely ground almond flour for best results.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs Room temperature eggs enhance the batter's emulsification.
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice Freshly squeezed is recommended for better flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest Adjust for a subtler orange flavor if desired.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Optional Garnishes

  • as needed powdered sugar For dusting the top.
  • as needed sliced almonds For garnishing.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the almond flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until thoroughly combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, fresh orange juice, orange zest, and melted butter.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not over-mix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, carefully transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving

  • Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar and garnish with sliced almonds, if desired.
