Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey and shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Finely chop 1-2 jalapeños and add them to the bowl along with breadcrumbs, beaten egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the burgers juicy.
  • Shape the mixture into four equal-sized patties, ensuring they aren't too thick.

Cooking

  • Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat, brushing with oil if grilling to prevent sticking.
  • Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • Remove from heat and let patties rest for a couple of minutes.

Serving

  • Toast the burger buns for added texture and flavor.
  • Place the cooked patty on the bottom half of the bun and layer with lettuce and sliced tomatoes.
  • Add sauces or toppings as desired and finish with the top half of the bun.
