Ingredients

Marinade and Beef

  • 1 lb sirloin beef, thinly sliced Make sure it's sliced thinly against the grain.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Vegetables

  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup kimchi, chopped Use your preferred spiciness level.

To Assemble

  • 4 slices provolone cheese Alternate cheeses can be used.
  • 4 hoagie rolls toasted
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Optional green onions for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef

  • In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, sugar, and black pepper. Add sliced beef and mix well. Allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Sauté Vegetables

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and bell peppers, and sauté until translucent, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Cook Beef and Combine

  • In the same skillet, add marinated beef and cook until browned, roughly 5-7 minutes. Stir in chopped kimchi and sautéed vegetables, cooking for another 2-3 minutes.

Assemble and Broil

  • Preheat the oven's broiler. Divide the beef and vegetable mixture among the toasted hoagie rolls. Top each with a slice of provolone cheese.
  • Place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until cheese melts and bubbles, watching carefully to prevent burning.

Serve

  • Remove from oven and let cool for a minute. Optionally garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
