  • 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Plus more for topping
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs or parsley

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook the elbow macaroni according to the package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until soft and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef or turkey, cooked macaroni, sautéed onion and garlic, 1 cup of shredded cheese, milk, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian herbs. Mix everything together until fully combined.
  • Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Top with the remaining shredded cheese and any additional toppings you prefer.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the casserole is hot and bubbly, and the cheese is melted and golden.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a crispy topping, broil the casserole for a few minutes after baking until the cheese begins to bubble and brown. Experiment with different types of cheese and meats for unique flavors.
