  • 2 pounds beef, chicken, or lamb (your choice) Choose the cut that suits your taste.
  • 4 large potatoes Can keep skins on if preferred.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For sautéing.
  • 1 large onion, diced Adds flavor to the dish.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Enhances the overall taste.
  • 2 cups beef or chicken broth For moistness and flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary For herbal flavor.
  • Fresh parsley to taste for garnish Optional, for a fresh finish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • If using beef or lamb, cut it into chunks. If using chicken, keep the pieces whole or cut them for quicker cooking.
  • Peel and chop the potatoes into cubes. Skins can be left on if desired.
  • In a large skillet or oven-safe pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • Add the meat to the skillet and brown on all sides.

Cooking

  • Once browned, season the meat with smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and thyme or rosemary.
  • Pour in the broth and bring to a simmer.
  • Add the potatoes to the pot and stir to combine.
  • Cover the pot and transfer to the preheated oven.
  • Cook for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meat is tender and the potatoes are cooked through.
  • After baking, let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider sautéing the meat after browning to deglaze the pan. Experiment with vegetables and herbs to create your version of the dish.
