Ingredients
  

For the meatballs

  • 1 pound ground beef or ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the tzatziki sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, finely grated and drained
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dill
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For serving

  • Mini pieces pitas or pita wedges
  • to taste Additional chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, mix the ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, oregano, minced garlic, egg, salt, and pepper until combined.
  • Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Cooking

  • Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and golden brown, turning them halfway for even cooking.
  • While the meatballs bake, prepare the tzatziki sauce by combining Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, olive oil, dill, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl, mixing well.
  • Warm the pita in the oven for 5 minutes once the meatballs are done.
  • Assemble the bites by placing a meatball on each pita and drizzling with tzatziki sauce. Garnish with additional chopped parsley if desired.
