  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Balances the sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract Use high-quality extract for better flavor.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips For extra chocolatey goodness.
  • Additional powdered sugar for coating Optional, for a festive look.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually add flour, cocoa powder, salt, and peppermint extract, mixing until well combined.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Form small balls of dough, about one inch in diameter, and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers are still soft.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before rolling in powdered sugar.
  • Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
