Ingredients
  

Base Mixture

  • 1 cup rolled oats Use old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 4 cups milk or water Use milk for creaminess or water for a lighter dish
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Adjust sweetness to taste
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Can adjust based on preference

Fruits

  • 1 cup diced apples Adds natural sweetness and texture
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional) For added sweetness and texture
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries (optional) For added sweetness and texture

For Serving

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start by taking your slow cooker and adding 1 cup of rolled oats.
  • Pour in 4 cups of milk or water, depending on your preference.
  • Add 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Stir everything gently until well mixed.
  • Fold in 1 cup of diced apples.
  • If desired, optionally add 1/2 cup of raisins and a 1/2 cup of dried cranberries.

Cooking

  • Cover your slow cooker with its lid and set it to cook on low for 6 to 8 hours overnight.

Serving

  • Stir the oatmeal upon waking. If it seems too thick, add a splash of milk to reach your desired consistency.
  • Dish out the oatmeal into bowls and let everyone customize their servings with extra fruits, yogurt, or honey.
