  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (choose your favorite type)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened Use high-quality butter for best results.
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional) For added flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme, optional) Add for flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix the softened butter and shredded cheese until well combined and creamy.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper until evenly combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the cheese mixture, stirring to form a dough.
  • In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolk with the milk and then incorporate this mixture into the dough until everything is combined.
  • If desired, fold in chopped fresh herbs to add an aromatic touch.
  • Roll the dough into small balls, about one inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space in between.
  • Flatten each ball slightly with the palm of your hand or the heel of your hand.

Baking

  • Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until the cookies turn golden brown.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack before serving or storing.

Notes
