Preparation

  • Begin by pouring 2 cups of milk and 1 cup of heavy cream into a medium-sized saucepan. Set the heat to medium and warm the mixture, stirring occasionally. Be cautious to heat it just until it’s warm—avoid boiling.
  • Once the milk mixture is warmed, stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips and continue stirring until they melt completely.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and add 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract. Mix well.
  • Pour the peppermint hot chocolate into mugs, top each with whipped cream, and sprinkle crushed peppermint candies over the whipped cream.
