Shrimp Preparation

  • 1 pound small shrimp, peeled and deveined Opt for fresh or high-quality frozen shrimp for the best flavor.

Batter Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Keep some flour aside for dredging.
  • 2 teaspoons salt Plus more for serving.
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika Use smoked or regular paprika.
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 large egg For battering.
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley For garnishing.

Preparation

  • Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, salt, paprika, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Toss the shrimp in 1/4 cup of the seasoned flour mixture until fully coated.
  • In a separate small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large deep pot to approximately 375°F.
  • Dip each shrimp into the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off and then dredge in the remaining seasoned flour.

Cooking

  • Carefully place about 8-10 shrimp into the hot oil and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove the cooked shrimp and drain on paper towels.
  • Repeat the frying process with the remaining shrimp.
  • Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes
