Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, fine sea salt, and baking soda.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the vegetable shortening, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the whole milk, vanilla extract, and egg, mixing until fully combined.
  • Gradually add the sifted flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the old-fashioned oats.
  • Using a tablespoon-sized cookie scoop, drop dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving at least 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake for 12-14 minutes.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
