  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg Room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk Room temperature

Additional Ingredients

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter with the sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg, then add the vanilla extract and buttermilk. Mix well and add red food coloring if desired.
  • Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in the white chocolate chips gently.

Baking

  • Using a cookie scoop, drop rounded portions of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spaced about two inches apart.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers are slightly soft.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
