Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cups unsweetened cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa powder for better flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Butter should be softened for easy mixing.
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring Adjust to achieve desired color.

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips Optional for added sweetness and texture.
  • Cream cheese frosting Optional for topping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Mixing

  • In another large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then blend in the vanilla extract and red food coloring until evenly distributed.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined to avoid tough cookies.
  • Fold in the white chocolate chips if desired.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are firm but centers are slightly soft. Cookies will firm up as they cool.

Cooling

  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, frost with cream cheese frosting if desired.
