  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure the butter is at room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Plus additional for dusting
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans) You can experiment with different types of nuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  • Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until the dough comes together.
  • Fold in the finely chopped nuts gently, ensuring even distribution through the dough.
  • Scoop tablespoons of the dough and roll them into small balls. Place them on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are lightly golden on the bottom but still soft on top.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes.
  • While they are still warm, roll the cookies in additional powdered sugar to coat them lightly.
  • Transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chilling the dough for 15-30 minutes before shaping can help the cookies retain their shape. Sift powdered sugar for a light coating. Experiment with different nuts and spices for variation.
