Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1/2 tablespoon grated ginger root
  • 1 teaspoon Sriracha optional
  • 1 pound salmon filet skin removed
  • 1/2 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil or canola oil, or avocado oil
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the sesame oil, honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and Sriracha (if using) to create the marinade.
  • Cut the salmon filet into 1-inch pieces and place them in the marinade. Toss to coat and allow to marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 4 hours.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the oil.
  • Remove the salmon from the marinade, shaking off excess, and sear the pieces in the skillet for about 2-3 minutes on each side until lightly browned.
  • In a small bowl, mix the water and cornstarch until dissolved, then pour into the skillet with the leftover marinade. Stir until thickened, then add the salmon back into the skillet to coat.
  • Serve the salmon bites immediately, garnished as desired.
