Preparation

  • Start by washing your chicken breasts under cold water, then pat them dry with a paper towel.

Cooking

  • Place the chicken breasts at the bottom of the slow cooker in a single layer.
  • Pour the barbecue sauce over the chicken, ensuring that each piece is well-coated.
  • Sprinkle salt and pepper over the chicken to taste.
  • Cover the slow cooker with its lid and set it to cook on low for about 6 to 8 hours, or on high for about 3 to 4 hours.
  • Once cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker.

Serving

  • Serve on buns, over greens, or inside tacos, as desired.

Notes

For variations, you can substitute different sauces or add vegetables like onions or bell peppers to the slow cooker. Chicken thighs can also be used for richer flavor.
