Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken breasts Boneless and skinless for best results.
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional) Adjust for more heat if desired.
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth Can be adjusted for moisture.

Preparation

  • Place the chicken breasts directly into the slow cooker.
  • In a mixing bowl, mix together the barbecue sauce, diced onion, minced garlic, paprika, salt, black pepper, and optional cayenne pepper.
  • Pour the mixture over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well coated.

Cooking

  • Secure the lid on your slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Once cooked, carefully remove the chicken and shred it using two forks.
  • Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker, mixing it with the remaining sauce.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. For reheating, add a splash of chicken broth to restore moisture.
