  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream Can substitute with different types of cream for variations.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to use a different cheese or mix of cheeses.
  • to taste salt Essential for flavor enhancement.
  • to taste pepper Essential for flavor enhancement.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Dotted on top before cooking.

Preparation

  • Wash the large potatoes thoroughly and slice them thinly on a cutting board.
  • Slice the onion thinly to allow its sweet flavor to permeate the dish.

Layering

  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom of your slow cooker.
  • Add half of the onion slices on top, sprinkling salt and pepper.
  • Top with half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, onions, and cheese.

Final Steps

  • Pour the heavy cream evenly over the layered ingredients.
  • Dot the top with small pieces of butter.

Cooking

  • Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for about 6 to 8 hours.
