Ingredients
  

Spice Blend

  • ½ tablespoon chili powder
  • ½ tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red chili flakes
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Main Ingredients

  • 1 kg chuck beef roast or bolar blade/small brisket
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1-2 pieces ripe avocados
  • 1 lime Juice of
  • ¼ cup dairy-free plain yogurt as a sour cream or mayonnaise alternative
  • to taste garlic powder Pinch
  • to taste salt Pinch
  • Extra lime wedges for serving
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Combine chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, crushed red chili flakes, dried oregano, and ground black pepper in a small bowl to create a spice blend.
  • Rub the spice mixture generously over the entire surface of the chuck beef roast.
  • Place the seasoned beef into your slow cooker and pour in ¼ cup of water around the meat.
  • Cover the slow cooker and set it to high for 6 hours or low for 8 to 10 hours.

Cooking

  • Once the cooking time is up, use two forks to shred the beef directly in the slow cooker.

Topping Preparation

  • Mash the ripe avocados in a bowl and mix in the lime juice along with a pinch of garlic powder and salt to taste.
  • Warm the corn tortillas in a frying pan over medium heat or briefly over an open flame.

Assembly

  • Take a warm tortilla, fill it with shredded beef, add a spoonful of mashed avocado, and drizzle with dairy-free yogurt if desired.

Serving

  • Serve the tacos garnished with fresh coriander leaves and small bowls of lime wedges.
  • Consider serving with fresh salsa, chopped onions, diced tomatoes, or pickled jalapeños.

Notes

For best results, thoroughly rub the spice seasoning into the meat. If short on time, briefly sear the beef in a hot skillet before slow cooking. Customize spice levels as desired.
