Slow Cooker Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls

A simplified take on traditional cabbage rolls, this hearty dish combines ground beef, cabbage, and a rich tomato sauce, all cooked effortlessly in a slow cooker.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 piece yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
  • 14 oz petite diced tomatoes
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 tsp dried parsley
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ cup water

Instructions
 

  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it apart until no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
  • Add diced onion, dried thyme, dried parsley, red pepper flakes, and kosher salt to the beef. Cook until onions are softened.
  • Transfer the beef mixture to the slow cooker.
  • Layer the chopped cabbage over the beef mixture.
  • In a bowl, mix the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water until combined.
  • Pour the sauce over the cabbage and beef mixture in the slow cooker, mixing gently to combine.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • Stir well before serving to combine flavors.

Notes
