  • 0.5 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar with a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Beat in the egg until fully combined, then add the milk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, mixing until evenly blended.
  • Gradually incorporate the dry mixture into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the white chocolate chips gently with a spatula.
  • Using a tablespoon, drop dough portions onto a lined baking sheet, leaving two inches of space between each cookie.

Baking

  • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly underbaked.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an even chewier texture, consider chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Experiment with various add-ins like nuts or flavored baking chips for different tastes.
