Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons butter for frosting, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for frosting
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • spooky sprinkles
  • Halloween eyeball candies

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using), mixing until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour, baking powder, salt, and cornstarch, stirring just until combined.
  • Spread the dough evenly in the prepared baking pan.
  • Bake for about 15 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges.
  • Allow to cool completely in the pan before frosting.
  • For the frosting, beat together the softened butter, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until fluffy.
  • Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cookie bars.
  • Decorate with spooky sprinkles and Halloween eyeball candies.
  • Slice into squares or rectangles and serve!
