Ingredients
  

For the steak

  • 1 lb Flank or sirloin steak Choose quality meat for the best flavor.
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil For searing the steak.

For the rice

  • 1 cup Long-grain white rice Rinse before cooking.
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 cups Broth or water For cooking the rice.
  • 2 tbsp Butter For the sauce.
  • 1 cup Whole milk For creaminess.
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese For the cheese sauce.
  • 1 cup Shredded Monterey Jack cheese For the cheese sauce.
  • 1 tsp Chili powder For added flavor.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced For flavor in the sauce.

For garnish

  • 1/4 cup Fresh cilantro, chopped For freshness.
  • 1 Lime, cut into wedges For serving.
  • 1 Avocado, sliced For creaminess.
  • to taste Sliced jalapeños For a spicy touch.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Season the steak with salt, pepper, paprika, and ground cumin on both sides.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Sear the steak for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from skillet and let rest.
  • Rinse the long-grain white rice until the water runs clear.

Cooking the Rice

  • Cook rice according to package instructions, adding garlic powder, salt, and broth or water.

Making the Cheese Sauce

  • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Pour in whole milk and allow it to thicken slightly.
  • Gradually stir in the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses until melted.
  • Add chili powder for extra kick.

Combining

  • Once the rice is cooked, fold it into the cheese mixture.
  • Slice the rested steak against the grain and combine with the cheesy rice.
  • Serve warm and enjoy.
