Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground turkey or chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

For Frying and Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter for frying
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon flour (optional, for thickening)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground turkey or chicken, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, nutmeg, allspice, and parsley (if using). Mix until well combined.
  • Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

Cooking Meatballs

  • Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the meatballs in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Brown them on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Place the browned meatballs onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, until cooked through.

Preparing Sauce

  • In the same skillet, pour in the beef broth, scraping the bottom to loosen any flavorful bits.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • For a thicker sauce, mix flour with a small amount of water to create a slurry, then add it to the sauce, stirring until desired thickness is achieved.

Combining and Serving

  • Once the meatballs are done, add them to the sauce, coating them well, and let them simmer together for a few minutes.
  • Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
