Sweet and Salty Chex Mix
A delightful combination of sweet and salty flavors that comes together in a crunchy snack mix featuring Chex cereal, nuts, and caramel syrup, perfect for gatherings or family movie nights.

Main Ingredients
- 1 cup salted butter For the syrup mixture
- 1.5 cups light corn syrup Adds sweetness and binding
- 1.5 cups sugar For sweetness
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Adds flavor to the mixture
- 1.5 cups salted cashews or peanuts Provide crunch and nutty flavor
- 8 cups corn Chex cereal Base of the snack mix
- to taste cups Christmas M&Ms Optional, for color and sweetness
Instructions
Preparation
- Gather all your ingredients and have a large mixing bowl ready.
- Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
Making the Syrup
- In a medium saucepan, melt the salted butter over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
- Once melted, add the light corn syrup and sugar. Stir continuously until it comes to a boil.
- Boil the mixture for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally to thicken.
- Remove from heat and add vanilla extract, mixing well.
Combining Ingredients
- In a separate large bowl, add the Chex cereal and nuts.
- Pour the warm syrup mixture over the Chex and nuts, stirring gently to coat everything evenly.
- If using, gently fold in the M&Ms after the mixture has cooled slightly.
Baking
- Spread the coated Chex mixture evenly on a greased baking sheet.
- Bake for about 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
Cooling and Storing
- Remove from oven and let cool completely before storing.
- Store in airtight containers or ziplock bags to maintain freshness.
