Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs

  • 1 lb lean ground beef Use lean ground beef for best results.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Whole wheat breadcrumbs can be used for a healthier option.
  • 1 large egg Acts as a binder for the meatballs.
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion Adds moisture and flavor to the meatballs.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances the overall flavor.

For the Sauce

  • 1 cup ketchup Base of the sauce.
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce Adds a savory element.
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice Provides sweetness and tang.
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar Adjust for sweetness as needed.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, add the lean ground beef and breadcrumbs.
  • Crack the large egg into the bowl, followed by the finely chopped onion and minced garlic.
  • Season the mixture with a bit of salt and pepper according to your taste.
  • Gently combine all the ingredients using your hands until just mixed.
  • Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the ketchup, low-sodium soy sauce, pineapple juice, and brown sugar.

Cooking

  • Place the shaped meatballs in the crockpot.
  • Pour the sauce over the meatballs and gently stir to coat them evenly.
  • Set your crockpot to cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 2 hours. Avoid lifting the lid during cooking.

Notes
