  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt For seasoning.
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 cup beef broth To keep the brisket moist.
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce For glazing.
  • Optional: wood chips for smoking Use hickory or mesquite for added flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your smoker or grill to 225°F (107°C).
  • In a small bowl, combine kosher salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Generously apply the spice rub all over the brisket to ensure maximum flavor.
  • In a separate container, mix the beef broth with a bit of barbecue sauce for moisture.

Cooking

  • Place the seasoned brisket in the smoker or on the grill.
  • Close the lid and let it cook for about 6 to 8 hours, monitoring the temperature closely.
  • For the last hour of cooking, brush the brisket generously with barbecue sauce.

Finishing Touch

  • Once the brisket reaches an internal temperature of 190°F (88°C), remove it and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
  • Slice the brisket against the grain and serve.
