  • 1 lb ground turkey Use high-quality ground turkey for best flavor.
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, rinsed
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 tsp olive oil For sautéing.

Preparation

  • Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about five minutes until soft.
  • Increase the heat slightly and add ground turkey. Cook for about eight minutes, stirring occasionally to brown evenly.
  • Stir in minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional minute.
  • Pour in the diced tomatoes and kidney beans. Mix well and bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Lower the heat, cover the pot, and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serving

  • Ladle the chili into bowls and garnish with toppings such as shredded cheese, fresh herbs, or sour cream.
  • Optionally, serve with cornbread or warm tortillas.
  • Set up a chili bar for larger gatherings with various toppings for customization.

Notes
