Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef Preferably grass-fed for better flavor.
  • 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon cumin Adjust to taste.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season as per preference.

Optional Toppings

  • shredded cheese For topping.
  • sour cream For topping.
  • green onions For topping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  • Drain excess fat from the skillet.

Cooking

  • Add the browned ground beef to the crockpot along with the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, onion, and garlic.
  • Mix in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper, and stir until everything is combined.
  • Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or high for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Stir before serving and ladle into bowls, adding preferred toppings.

Notes

Chili often tastes better the next day. You can customize the chili by adding fresh chopped peppers for heat or swapping out the meat for a vegetarian option.
