Cookie Dough Ingredients

  • 2 sticks 2 sticks (8oz, 227g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled Use unsalted butter for best flavor.
  • ¾ cup ¾ cup packed (5.25oz, 149g) brown sugar, light or dark Pack the brown sugar tightly in the measuring cup.
  • ¾ cup ¾ cup (5.25oz, 149g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons orange zest (from 2 large oranges) Adds a refreshing citrus flavor.
  • 2 large 2 large eggs (room temperature preferred) Ensure eggs are at room temperature.
  • cups 2¼ cups (10.125oz, 287g) all-purpose flour Spoon the flour into the measuring cup.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Melt the unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl or saucepan until almost entirely liquid. Stir to use residual heat to finish melting any remaining solid pieces.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the vanilla extract, salt, and orange zest to the mixture and mix well.

Mix Dough

  • Add the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and baking soda, then gradually add to the wet mixture without overmixing.
  • Fold in white chocolate chunks, dried cranberries, and walnuts (if using).
  • Refrigerate the dough for at least one hour.

Baking

  • Roll the dough into 1.5-ounce balls and place them spaced apart on prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the centers are slightly underdone.
  • Allow to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
